Bengals Secure Win with Strong Defense and Burrow's Big Plays
CINCINNATI — Joe Burrow and the Bengals got a much-needed victory on Sunday Night Football, winning 17-7 against the New York Giants. This win came in a different style than usual, with the defense allowing their fewest points of the season.
Burrow also stepped up with a career-high 55 rushing yards, helping a passing game that struggled at times. He finished with his best ESPN QBR score of the season at 87.7.
“We really needed this win,” Burrow said. “I don’t want to say we would have been out of it if we lost, but it would have made things tougher. It was great to see our defense play so well after some criticism in recent weeks.”
Burrow ran the ball four times, but his most impressive play was a 47-yard touchdown run, the longest by a Bengals quarterback in team history.
“Forgot about that,” Burrow joked. “I saw an opening and took advantage of it. I was able to make plays with my legs when we needed it because I wasn't playing my best otherwise, but we found a way to win.”
